Museum of Folk Art and Traditions
The Auxi le Château museum is located in an old presbytery building built in 1823, opposite Saint Martin's church in the historic quarter 'La Montagne" with its cobbled streets.
A visit to the museum is a time to think about the passing of time. It's an opportunity to ask questions about our society of leisure and consumption.
The reconstitution of Picardy's past allows us to discover different ways of life in the past and imagine evenings by the fire in the light of a kerosene lamp.
At each display you will find out how the products of yesteryear were acquired and produced, their processing techniques and the skills required in the worker's estate (shoe-making, basketwork, using the sawmill and enamelling).
Different stages of life and the rich variety of community events that punctuated life in the past are recalled through objects connected with childhood, religion, the military and traditional festivals.
Outside, you will be delighted by the small garden that belonged to the parish priest which is filled with flowers and medicinal plants. A garden full of pleasant aromas in a picturesque setting.
