Donjon of Bours

Site et monument historiques
This architectural vestige, built before the 13th century, is a typical local example of a motte and bailey castle which has lasted through the ages. It's structure is its distinctive feature: it comprises a square sandstone tower with six adjoining, corbelled out turrets (four at the corners, one on the north side and one on the south side). This gives it a sturdy appearance that would make you think it could resist a gang of looters. You will find out the truth when you visit this building, classed as a historic monument since 1965.
Currently under renovation, the monument is closed in 2015
